To Col (Dr) DS Khera’s son: I am extremely sorry to learn of the sad demise of your revered father and our ex Headmaster, Col (Dr) DS Khera. May Waheguru rest his soul in eternal peace and give to the family and the PPS fraternity the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I was not his student at PPS, but had the opportunity to interact with him when I was the Bursar there later. I developed tremendous respect for him and will certainly miss him. In grief,

Shocked to hear sad demise of Sir Daya Singh Khera… a personal loss to us as we had very close association with him and Mrs Khera when they were in Bangkok and even after we have been in regular touch… learnt a lot from him as to how to live the life… one just gets helpless with destiny decisions though he was going thru a tough difficult times… yet elders being around one feels secured… there would be vacuum which can’t be filled… we can only pray for the departed soul to rest in peace and afford strength for you all to bear this
Huge loss…
No words to express the sorrow and Sadness to know about the Demise of Gentle man Colonel Daya Singh Khera, a friend philosopher and God Father to me. Learnt so many things from him during Golf Sessions with him, last being about ten days back.

Departure of Col Khera is an irreplaceable loss to JVV. May his soul keep guiding us by his appoligitic approach way to resolve any issue facing the society. He was a gem for that matter. Waheguru bless his soul and courage to the family to accept the unbearable loss.
Very very sad news about the death of a great man of our society who dedicated his services for the welfare of all residents of our society, may his soul rest in peace n God give enough strength to his family members to bear this irreparable loss. OM Shanti.
A noble man, a consummate teacher, a devout and smiling persona, a heart full of kindness departs. RIP Colonel Khera
Very sad to hear this loss. During my endeavour to stop the nuisance of sewage flowing near the society from 2007 to 2015, col Khera was the only officer who accompanied me more than anyone else. (seven times)to meet various government officials in GMADA and municipal corporation chandigarh.
Last time I spoke to him before coming aboard was when he was in Rishikesh taking classes.
This was his passion I believe. It gave him peace of mind.
May god keep him in peace wherever he is.
I recall his calm disposition when he used to visit us to discuss plans for design and construction of Society LIFTS with my daughter Ar. Preet Kiran Luthra.
He admired and approved the Design prepared by her and implemented the same.
May God Bless his Soul to rest in eternal PEACE and bestow strength to his family to bear this priceless loss.

Dadaji, we have so many incredible moments together that are some of the happiest moments of my life. I loved going on walks with you around wightman field and you timing my sprints around the track. I loved carving pumpkins with you for Halloween and playing with all of the pumpkin seeds and the orange insides of the pumpkin. I loved playing video games with you and teaching you how to play them. I will always remember the videos you would find and I would go running upstairs to watch them with you. I loved celebrating birthdays with you and your big 80th birthday in 2016! And going to the jcc with you and I would play basketball while you walked around the track. And golfing I never did enjoy golfing until we started playing together and you would teach me how to hold the golf clubs correctly and how to swing correctly it was incredible and I will forever cherish these magical memories! And going to the gurdwara with you and my dad. And I have loved giving you tickles from my Gigi’s. And with all of your fun games like saying shut up to my dad or playing your laughing game and seeing who could laugh the longest which you would always win! And give a smile. There are way too many fantastic memories that we have together that I cant name them all. But above all you have inspired me to be a so much better person. You have made me more wise and taught me so many new interesting things and new traits that have changed my perspective for the better in this world. I love you sooooo incredibly much and you will be with god and you will always be with us staying happy. You are the kindest, funniest, most loving, respectful, generous, intelligent, caring, and most magical person in the whole universe!
Love,
Gogoo Mogu.

Will miss you Uncle
Will remember your Yoga sessions and your unconditional love.
Col. (Dr.) DS Khera , a brother officer from the sister service , had been an elderly guiding and a motivating figure to each one of us in this residential society ( JVV ) .
Being in personal contact with him not only as a co- resident but also through his great contribution to the upliftment of the quality of life of the society residents while holding the post of the PRESIDENT JVV , he always displayed a character of patience and personification having a great deal of respect , love , affection & regards towards all of us .
The video , showing his active past really impresses and inspires me in person to be a character like him , though very difficult to be so..
I shall always miss his ever smiling presence amongst all of us in the society.
May he find a place in the HEAVEN .
My heartfelt condolences to Khera Family.
He was a wonderful person and will be missed. He will stay in our heart forever. Truly sorry for your loss. Love from MaxVal Family.
Rest in Peace Uncleji🙏
Dear Harbinder & Balbir sir,
He was most surely the light and beacon of everyone around him. Every time I met him there was always some learning in his talks and actions. He was very senior yet equally humble and his mere presence was mesmerizing.
The true tribute to him will be that we will take some learning from his life and apply in ours, his dedication towards education is very commendable and he has been an example for all of us no how to leave a wonderful life; and I am sure he will be alive in our heart and mind forever.
May he rest in peace,
Dear Sir
I was terribly grieved and emotionally shattered when a message about your sudden demise popped up on the whatsapp screen of ICSE 2000 group. I still recollect when as a student at PPS in 1994, I had fallen sick and you were kind enough to ferry me to the school hospital in your white ambassador car. Later, in class 9 in the year 1998 I had failed to perform satisfactorily in Mathematics and scored marks below the required standards to earn promotion to the next class. Though I had fared remarkably well in the other subjects. As a result, my promotion to the next class was withheld which demoralized me and my parents. A few teachers, My housemaster and the then Deputy headmaster were bent upon to detain me in Class 9 but you were considerate enough to brush aside their baseless arguments of holding me back in the previous class simply for performing abysmally in Mathematics. The very next week you promoted me to class 10 and thus saved one most precious year of my life.
At other occasion, I was fortunate enough to meet your good self in the capacity of a teacher of English at DPS Silver city Nabha in December 2010 when you graced the occasiond as the chief guest on School’s Annual day. Even at that juncture you inspired and motivated me to improve myself and look for better prospects in life.
Had a telephonic conversation with you in March 2021 and you even promised to meet me on your visit to Agaul but that visit could never be materialized as ‘Man proposes,God disposes’. Your sudden demise has left a void in our lives which is hard to fill. Life is so fragile that can crumble at any time.Dear sir, though the words are poor comforters but I pray to the Almighty to grant invincible courage to your family to bear this irreparable loss. Shall always cherish the moments I spent with you being your student at PPS and savour your undying charismatic personality.
It was extremely sad & shocking to hear about the sad news yesterday at golf course. Though I knew all was not well when we spoke about -five weeks ago. Well I was fortunate to spend some quality time and unforgettable years with you on the golf course. With the intellect, wisdom and maturity which you possessed, there was so much to learn from you. So energetic & talented for your years, there are numerous memories of the wonderful times we spent together on the fairways & otherwise. Like mine, you touched and contributed so much to many other lives & institutions.
You played your round very well Sir ! Rest in peace & you will always be talked about & missed in those idyllic settings you liked so much to be part of !
Please accept my heartfelt condolence. I pray for peace and comfort for you and your loved ones at this difficult time.
May the departed soul rest in peace!
It was an honor to have known Col. Daya Singh Khera.
I salute his life and legacy. Applaud his contributions to our country and hope his memory lives on for many, many years!
I still remember his words of wisdom and the depth of meaning they carry. My heart goes out to Khera family.
OM Shanti OM

Dear Uncle
I will cherish all your fond memories especially our morning roof top discussions which could give even the best analysts “a run for their money”.
It was so much fulfilling sharing all my accomplishments with you.
Your advises on all challenging situations were worth a fortune.
Bhavleen, Simar & I will always remember the trip we undertook with you to Nabha.
We will keep drawing power from your positivity.
Indeed your positivity & strength to beat all odds can draw no parallels & will continue to influence all those whose lives you touched upon.
Your life indeed needs to be celebrated, a life lived for the cause of others, a life which will continue to inspire everyone to give their best at all times.
You will be missed but you will continue to live each day in our thoughts, forever, eternal.
I am reminded of the following lines from the famous “Elton John’s” song ;
” And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in ….”
May your soul find eternal peace in the almighty’s embrace.
Lots of Love
Harmeet Singh (2289 Jal Vayu Vihar)

Dearest Mamaji, losing you is an immense personal loss. You were our go-to person for everything and I am going to miss that guidance and sense of comfort. You were the oldest, but actually the youngest at heart and mind; you could get down to everyone’s level and converse, an ability that’s rare. You listened more and every spoken word was a pearl of wisdom. I believe that your life is an example for me to live by. I look for no other benchmarks. I aspire to live by your values and keep your memory alive. Thank you for touching our lives. You shall always be missed.

It’s always sad to loose a loved one, no matter under what circumstances it happens. We all know that one day we have to go. However, I think uncle ji’s legacy will live for ever, through the lives of countless persons, he touched, inspired and transformed. He was a very contented person and lived life fully. By donating himself for medical research he has set a new milestone for the next generation. Salute to uncle ji……
The air which enters our body at birth and gives us life has gone out of our body and merged with the air in the atmosphere. The elements from which the body is made, merge with the organic matter of the earth. Everything which came together and formed the body has returned to (the earth), where it came from. So why should we cry, as nothing has perished and nothing has truly vanished/ disappeared. People who have the true knowledge of the universe should acknowledge and discuss this fact, that one form of body has gone into another form.
Tayaji, you were a precious gem (or unique gem) with amalgam of qualities. I have no words to describe you what kind of person you were. In entire of your life, you lived with a vision; a vision for better education, society, and humanity. You left a remarkable impact in my life and many things learned from you. In particular, your curiosity to know the information beyond the boundaries of disciplines and innovative ability to use such extracted information for the cause of education, environment, and humanity. I still recalled the best moments of our long conversations when you visited us in Australia and had the opportunity to learn more from you. Your absence has created a void which can not filled. You will always remain in our thoughts.

My dearest friend, Col Khera, your memories will remain forever entrenched. More than 40 years ago, we met at Rewa, MP, where he was Principal of Sainik School while I was Head of Radio, AIR.
What started a lifetime of close friendship, must have been from a prior birth perhaps. Unlike many people we see now, he was true personification of his name- what a kind-heart he carried.
Just couple of weeks ago I had spoken with him- cannot fathom this loss!
With God’s blessing, may his soul rest in peace and his family get the strength to bear his loss.
